A space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or near the Earth. GPS's are generally not suitable to establish indoor locations, since microwaves will be attenuated and scattered by roofs, walls and other objects. However, in order to make positioning signals ubiquitous (can be obtained everywhere), integration between GPS and indoor positioning can be made.
