Sometimes called an Alarm Monitoring Center, Central Station refers to a service company that monitors burglar, fire and residential alarm systems. UL has a certification for central stations, renewed annually. A typical central station has backup power and telecommunications, and must be able to interface with multiple alarm protocols.
